Double chance

If you aren't confident with your Head to Head bet you can cover an additional full-time result with a double chance bet. This means that you can choose one team to win or draw, or even either team to win - in which case you would lose if the match ended as a draw.

Draw no bet

With this bet, you choose one of the teams to win, and if the result is a draw, your stake is refunded. There is less risk with a draw no bet but your potential winnings are also a little lower.

Correct score

You choose the exact end-score of the football match. This is a popular type of football bet because games tend to be lower scoring than for other sports like Rugby and Basketball.

Line Bet

Line betting is not common for soccer betting because of the low scoring nature so if you have heard the term 'football line betting' it was probably referring to American football (NFL). A line bet is when a handicap is applied to the score so that the odds are evened out. You then choose which team you think will win with the handicap applied.

Goalscorers

Punters can also choose which player they think might score in a given football match. Strikers, wingers and players who score often have lower odds for scoring while defenders (and even goalkeepers) have much higher odds. You can also pick who you might score the first or last goal, or a player to score multiple goals.

Team offsides (over/under)

The bookmaker will set a line, eg. 5.5, and you can bet whether or not a team will have more, or less, offsides than this number. You might know that a team likes to 'park the bus', in which case there will likely be fewer offsides for the opposing team. Alternatively, if they play a high line, there might be more offsides for the opposing team.

Player tackles (over/under)

Some bookies will let you bet on how many tackles a certain player will have in a match. This option is usually only available for defenders and defensive midfielders. Again, the betting site will set a line and you will bet on whether they have more, or less, tackles than this number.

First set piece

Betting can require a lot of skill, and knowledge, but betting on a set piece is more of a gamble. When betting on the first set-piece you decide what dead ball situation you think will be the first of the match eg. a corner, throw-in, free kick, goal kick or penalty.
